Exhibit 32: March 2019 – October 2020

Privy Dig: Backyard Archaeology

We acknowledge that our 32 exhibit was a bit out of the ordinary but that hasn’t made it any less popular. For this exhibit we pulled out all of the interesting items excavated from the privy digs we conducted a few years ago in Clarkston. It’s a fascinating look at what kinds of things were typically tossed into backyard privies, or outhouses, of homes in the village. We found local bottles, clay pipes, china, ceramic doll heads, marbles and all sorts of interesting booty. It was a true eye-opener and really did turn pioneer trash into museum treasure!
