Art in the Village...
(formerly known as Crafts
and Cider)ART IN THE VILLAGE APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED -- APPLY NOW!!

Each
September, as summer turns to fall, art lovers from around the metro-Detroit
area come to Clarkston for the Art in the Village Show. This juried art
show, hosted by the Clarkston Community Historical Society, features artists
from around the state and the nation. All mediums are represented, including
painting and drawing, blown and fused glass, photography, jewelry, fabric,
weaving and much more.
The Show takes
place the third weekend each September, as it has since it began in the
mid-1970s. In addition to approximately 100 artists, the Show features
performances by bands and musical groups, a variety of great foods sold by
local civic organizations and charities, and several children’s activities.
Fresh apple cider and delicious donuts sold by the Historical Society add to
the autumn fun.
There are also two additional tents sponsored by the society. The first is a Silent Auction Tent full of items donated to the Historical Society by the artists who participate in the show. This tent is a great place to see what each artist has to offer and to bid on favorite items. The second and newest addition to the show is our Antique Tent Sale. This has been a huge success in the past few years. A large number of antiques and collectibles are on sale here and there is something for everyone! All proceeds benefit the Historical Society. Funds raised at Art in the Village help the Society to collect and preserve artifacts, photographs and documents relating to Clarkston’s history. These items are featured in biannual exhibits at the Clarkston Heritage Museum, which is owned and operated by the Society. Exhibits also include educational programs for youth and adults.
